Professional Journalism Remains Dead: NBC News Edits Zimmerman’s 911 calls, While Toure gets Schooled

Fox News Video. CNN

NBC News Accused Guilty of Editing 911 Call in Trayvon Martin Controversy

If you watched Hannity the other night, you may have caught the segment on how NBC’s "Today" show, where they attempted to incite racial anger by cutting critical seconds from audio of a 911 phone call made by George Zimmerman right before he shot and killed Trayvon Martin.
Here is the transcript of the NBC segment:
Zimmerman says: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good.  He looks black.
Now if you were to hear only this, there would be little doubt that Zimmerman profiled Martin before following him. The problem with this segment is it is very selectively edited.
Here is the actual transcript of what was said in the real 911 call:
Zimmerman: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good, or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.”
911 operator: “Okay. And this guy, is he white black or Hispanic?”

And it was at this point when Zimmerman answered the question.
Zimmerman: “He looks black.”

This sordid attempt to incite negative feelings against Zimmerman by the progressive mouthpiece should surprise no one.  By cutting out the dispatcher questions, NBC knowing attempted to lead voters to feel that there were racial overtones.  When you hear the full transcript of this segment, whether or not Zimmerman was profiling Martin is not as clear.
This could have serious consequences on the case if it does ever go to trial.  This could have very well contaminated any potential jury pool.  It seems like a byzantine plot by the progressive news source to control public opinion.
Why would NBC be willing to go to such lengths to make this already sensitive situation even more abstruse?  One would assume any major news outlet would want to exercise scrupulous control of quality standards: it is likely that the segment was not run without the knowledge of those who run the show over there at NBC.
This action goes further than just a bias in its reporting, this is a full-throated distortion on the part of NBC.  This is propaganda at its most affective use.
Remember that the Obama administration has already given NBC $24.9 million in stimulus money. They also ignored the decision by the president to delay the pipeline that would have created up to 20,000 jobs.  This is only a small segment of the actions this president has had that point to close ties with the NBC and MSNBC.
The whole episode raises a fundamental question.

Would NBC, whom has become the official mouthpiece for the Obama administration, purposely attempt to exacerbate racial tensions in order to further polarize the country before the coming election?
What good could have come out of such an edit?  It is hard to believe that the company was unaware of the situation before it happen.  Even if there is a retraction and an apology, the damage will have already been done in that many people will have already based their opinion on what they heard that night.
“Tom Brokaw, Matt Lauer, I wonder if they’re proud tonight?”  Hannity asked.
The family of Trayvon Martin is grieving, and no one can take the pain of losing a child away from them.  Nevertheless, it does no one any good if an innocent man is inculpated in a crime unless he is indeed guilty.  The investigators have yet to move to arrest Zimmerman; this can only mean that they are still deciding if they have enough evidence to charge him.
The affect that these kinds of distortions can have on public opinion can be huge.  NBC has failed to acquit themselves like professionals, and the consequences are real.  To the people who will believe nothing but what they heard in that edited version of the 911 call, Zimmerman will forever be a monster.  This could be cataclysmic for him if it ever becomes known that he was indeed acting in self-defense.
Would Tim Russert of every done something like this? I think the answer is no!
In the above video with Piers Morgan and MSNBC’s Toure, Morgan really takes him down a notch.  I am not going to go through point by point on all the fallacious points that Toure tried to make, but there are a view I would like to point out.
At the beginning, Toure excoriated Morgan for allowing George Zimmerman’s brother (Robert) on his show.  He was upset because Morgan let a man come on his show to stick up for his brother.  This goes right to the thinking over at MSNBC that they want to control the message, and what better way to do that than to silence anyone who would give a conflicting account to what happen that night.  Toure really was genially upset that Robert Zimmerman would dare to want the world to hear his brothers side of the story.
Second, later in the video you hear Toure tell Morgan that it is impossible for Zimmerman to have had injuries because they are not apparent in the grainy police video.  Piers Morgan responded with surprising equanimity, calmly explaining the nuances of professional journalism to the sophomoric MSNBC analyst.  He was right when he said that there is no way anyone knows for sure what happen that night, or what the evidence will say in the end.  The medical records should show to what extent the injuries Zimmerman had that night.
It is abundantly clear right now, that NBC and MSNBC are not willing to wait for the justice system to play out.  What are they so scared of, finding out that they may have been wrong once again.  What happens if Zimmerman is found not guilty or is never charged because of lack of evidence?  That is the problem, because of stations like this; Zimmerman will never get fair treatment.
Once again, the liberal left makes justice hard to achieve, and is willing to stroke racial fears for personal benefit.

  1. The issue might not be race but why is some black people making it into such? I think most white people are fed-up with the double standards by some wanting to make it into a hate crime, YET ignoring black on white hate crime? If so, why are these issues not called by the name, and taken on by the biased "racial mongering media" and dealt with the same brush? Is it because the victims of black hate crime is white?? Why does the US media not make an issue of this and the news come out abroad but not in the US?? Double standards create friction. If anyone is to blame the first stop should be with the left racist media that go on sesantionalist stories like calling Zimmerman a "white" Hispanic. If so then Obama should be a "white" African American. -

  2. I agree that was lousy journalism. I think you are making too much of it though, I'm sure everyone has heard those tapes by now and it's one tiny incident.

I also wonder why conservatives always rally and attack black activists when something like this happens ?
Is it really necessary for it to be partisan ?

But somehow it always becomes partisan.

    1. When people like Al Sharpton get involved, it distorts what justice there may have been. For listen to the 911 calls so many times. Here is some things we need to know. How does Tractors girlfriends phone calls match up with the 911 call. Plus, when you listen to the tape, you will here another 4 to 5 minutes of conversation that Zimmerman had with the dispatcher after the dispatcher so not to follow him, or better yet, we don't need you to do that. ZImmermann is calmly explaining where he is going to meet the police. I also am not sure if it wasn't Zimmerman who said Ok when the dispatcher said they don't need him to follow Grayson. The media is attempted to push the narrative Zimmerman did this because of race, when from the tape, it is not clear. If it was, then NBC wouldn't of felt the need to edit it to make it look worse than it did. This is the progressive movement doing what it does best, attempt to stroke fears of racists taking over the country. I want justice, but not a preconceived justice based off of limited facts. Sharpton is a pathetic attempt at a activist, who only wishes to advance his own cause, not that of the victims, who we just do not know who it is.

Actually it was one idiot in one tiny segment of one show. Which the "liberal media" has condemned and I'm sure they will be fired.

I saw someone that agrees with you about the media etc, though - you are in almost total agreement:

    http://www.stormfront.org/forum/t871331-82/

Which might make you think, or might not.

People like Sharpton get involved in things like this, and it becomes a big issue not because Zimmerman was a racist or that it was a racial incident. Racial incidents happen a lot.

They become involved because it certainly seems as if the police and prosecutors in this town don't take racial incidents seriously if the victim is a young black man, and let vigilante justice run free.

That's what the outrage is about, and to me it looks to be justified outrage. And it would have been swept under the rug if people like Sharpton hadn't made it an issue, after a month of cover-up.

  4. That is the issue though, because if you listen to the 911 call, there is nothing that is 100% racist about it. The media could have waited until there were more facts before attempting to incite anger. It has come out that the lead detective wanted to have Zimmerman arrested, but the prosecutor stated that there was not enough evidence against him. In addition, the police on the scene had reported that Zimmerman had injuries, which points to a struggle.

Now, here is a question I think no one is asking. What if Zimmerman did profile him, and he did call him something using a racial epithet. However, then it is proven that witnesses saw Trayvon attack Zimmerman and proceed to bash him into the ground. Would that have given Trayvon the right to attack Zimmerman. Do we want to give people the right to attack people if the offend us. People are saying that people should be forces to flee in one breath, but then in the next they say Zimmerman started it by following a person who was innocent. If that is the case, it does no matter. What matters is who attacked whom first. If Trayvon attacked Zimmerman, then it was self-defense. If Zimmerman attacked Trayvon, then it is either murder or manslaughter.

All I am saying is the media has done damage that cannot be undone and it is not good for this country. There is no reason to inject race into something unless we know it is there. How does anyone know that if a white kid had been walking around at night wearing a hoody that Zimmerman would not have called the cops. There is just no way to prove something like that, but as of right now, there is no way to prove what happen that night, but when you look at the reports from the media, mostly left leaning media such as ABC, CBS, NBC, and MSNBC you will come away thinking this is a hate crime.

I do not know how many times I’ve heard someone I know say something about this situation that they heard from one of these outlets that is either not known to be true, or is not proven yet. Journalism is about reporting, not inciting one’s own feeling into a situation that could very well set race relations back for years. When you got Sharpton calling for civil unrest, and the New Panther Party placing ten thousand to one million on someone’s head, and you have people already placing a trade marc on the "I am Trayvon Logo" and people talking about lawsuits while the evidence is still being collected, it makes justice hard to achieve.

We suddenly have witnesses coming out that contradict Zimmerman’s account, as well as the initial witness accounts, a months later, and only after the media has blown the whole thing up, then we have a problem. How come these people did not contact police in the first place. The media has allowed to woman to come out and say that they feel Zimmerman murdered Trayvon because they say he did not seem to be helping him after the shot. The progressive online sites run with this like it is evidence that convicts Zimmerman, the next day those same girls then admit that they did not see anything because it was dark. The could not see what happen, but they suddenly know that this was a hate crime. Come on, the media should have allowed them to tell their story, but pointed out the flaws in the whole thing.

I feel like what the media has now created is a situation where if it comes out that Zimmerman acted in self-defense, so many people are going to blame it on the racist justice system. Some will want to cause trouble. There will be unrest because the media has already convinced so many people that this is a white/black case.

The last thing that gets to me; and the most important thing to me that makes this so sad.

    1. Why does the media, and the activist only get involved when the it is one race on another crime, murder, or such. We are seeing young children killed in gang violence almost daily, but hardly a peep out of these same people. Why are these people not calling for calming heads to prevail? What were the things King taught, it was not what we are seeing. We need leaders to get involved, but we are only seeing those with their own agenda. Its sick and it is sad. We will learn nothing from this in the end because people are unwilling to face some of the things that cause the culture that leads kids to kill each other. We need to unite around a common cause, but that will not happen while we have the agitators out their trying to push things that are not yet know.
We want out children to trust the justice system, when we cannot even trust it ourselves.

    2. >That is the issue though, because if you listen to the 911 call, there is nothing that is 100% racist about it.

Not it isn't. It is an issue because to all appearences the police didn't bother investigating because the victim was a young black guy, prosecutors didn't prosecute, everyone stonewalled and the town has a history of suppressing blacks.

Such incidents happen all the time - and the police investigate and people are charged and it doesn't get the attention of Al Sharpton or NBC

      >I feel like what the media has now created is a situation where if it comes out that Zimmerman acted in self-defense, so many people are going to blame it on the racist justice system.

  5. They did investigate, and even tried to have Zimmerman charged, but the evidence pointed to the young black man not being the victim at all, but the aggressor. Well at least as far as we know, because the evidence is under raps right now. You cannot have mob justice in this country if you want justice. If Zimmerman was black, the media would have let this play out. But they saw an opportunity, and now they are too full of hubris to admit they may have been mistaken. So they make up things and use words like "white Hispanic" which is just another cop out. They never call Obama a white black man. That would be stupid.
